" 'The Gaze in critical theory, sociology, and psychoanalyst is the act of seeing and being seen.'
Eroticism is to invoke erotic pleasure and thought in relation to the viewer. Working with erotic images, Natalie Lambert's video work challenges the gaze of the viewer. Using eye contact, and sexualized images within a social construct, Lambert suggests that the objectification of bodies and the attraction to these images can contribute to the oppression of women within society. Through the language of eroticism, Lambert is consenting to the viewers gaze and provoking thoughts of objectification, challenging stereotypes about sex, gender and the body."
